Day 13-What's in my purse? Do we dare go there?

Well, I guess for the sake of this project, now would be a good time to clean my purse out. And in the mean time tell you what was in it. Why? I don't know, the list just told me to. OK, so now that it's all dumped out all over the floor...
I have two hard glasses cases (but no glasses... hmmm...)
My black, fake alligator skin wallet with buckles
A small notebook to take notes in when I'm in church or meetings or classes (it makes me pay attention)
A bright green floating wrist band for my water proof camera and the rubber cover for the water proof camera (no camera, which is very unusual, it's out from Cas's birthday party and now needs charging)
"The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne on CD (borrowed from a neighbor and ONE day I'll return it when I see him, so it resides in my purse for such occasion. Of course I see him a lot, and yet here's this little box of CDs, in my purse)
4 random receipts (that's it?)
4 shopping lists
a page of coupons for a tanning salon that I probably won't ever go to
a tube of dramamine
my sony flip video camera
gel eye drops
a pack of green trident, brand new
a coke flavored chapstick and a burt bee's chapstick
2 colored lip glosses from Bath and Body Works
a used tithing slip
2 unused tithing slips and a tithing envelope
a recipe for German Chocolate Cheesecake
4 ATM cards from opening savings accounts for the girl circus
a paint swatch for repainting the shed (Posh Red)
my checkbook with only one check left
a tire air gage (that says Burt Brothers on it, go figure)
3 paper clips
a blue pen
a nickel
a penny
12 alligator barrettes
a fingernail file
a fingernail polish (color "commander in chic")

Day 12-My Dealings With OCD

"Day 12" is something I'm OCD about. Finally an easy one.
My bed. Or more specific, the sheets.
I have a serious mental issue when it comes to the sheets on my bed. They have to be perfectly smooth and straight over my legs. HAVE to be. I literally can't sleep if they're not. My legs get claustrophobic if there are wrinkles or *gasp* bunches of blankets on or around my legs. It causes me to toss and turn all night, which of course, only makes the sheet situation worse. I'll try to kick them smooth. Sometimes that actually works. I have been known to remake the bed before I get in it at night if the blankets are too messy from the night before. I tuck them in at the bottom so they'll stay put. I will (and have!) do this even if West is already in bed.

Day 10 - a photo that makes me happy

I burst into endless giggles when I look at this picture. We were in Nassau Bahamas. The weather was hot, the water was luke warm perfection and clear as far as the eye could see. We were all in heaven. And frankly I think the goggles make the outfit.

Day 9

My dream house. Actually, my dream house would also have palm trees around it.

Day 8

My favorite quote(s).
*** "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?" -Marianne Williamson, made famous by requoted by Nelson Mandela in his inaugural speech.

*** "What your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve."
*** "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts.... We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it." -Charles R Swindoll

Day 7

A picture of me and the person I have been closest to the longest. Are you kidding me? First of all I have a confession. I've been putting this post off on purpose for a while. I had no idea who to do it about. I'm not very good at keeping in touch. I'll even admit that I'm just down right terrible at it. I finally decided that even though I don't keep in regular touch, doesn't mean that people aren't still so very close to my heart. And when I finally allowed myself that idea, I realize that I no longer have a copy of a picture with the one I wanted to do this post on because my computer crashed a while ago and I lost my pictures. Audrey, we need to do lunch soon so I can get another picture on my computer of us. I'm sorry I'm not very good at keeping in touch, but whenever I have to answer who my best friend is, the answer is still you. I don't think anyone has ever understood me the way you always did. Maybe we should start doing lunch once a month.
Maybe I'll revisit this post after I get a lunch date with that girl and scan some pictures of us from high school and tell you some stories... ha ha now THAT would be a post to read.
As it is I have so many people in my life that I couldn't imagine my life with out them, they're there for me when I need them:
My circus:
And my man, everyday he touches my heart and I'm so grateful for him:
My brothers Fred and Nick, they'll eat me alive with their wit. What more could a sister ask for?
My dad and brother Bill. Quiet and strong:
My mom: My dad, my go to parent for so many years. I love the song by Brad Paisley, He Didn't Have To Be (he IS smiling, you can see it in his eyes :)): Sisters! Even if she is a little "dark": Another brother Daniel who is my lucky charm at the craps table (you can tell by the disgusted look of unbelief he's giving me) :): Cousins and sister McKell: Well, hey, a girl can dream.

Day 6

My favorite book. Are you kidding me? Give me a book and I'm happy. I think West made a serious mistake giving me that kindle for my birthday, I'm always getting lost in it. I generally like to read, and am generally happy to read, but I'm kind of picky in what I read. Almost snobbish. I don't like murder thrillers. And I thought Twilight was OK. Until the fourth book then she completely lost me. I love "classics". And I love John Grisham. There's one writer who doesn't fall into the category of "if you've read one, you've read them all". I do like some of his books better than others. And I own every one of them. My favorite of his is The Chamber.
I'm currently (thanks to free downloads on my kindle) working through Jane Austen's classics. Can't beat hard core chick flick and old English customs and language :)
And I loved Charles Dickens' Great Expectations: Though I'm always looking for more modern writers that I can get in to. If you have any suggestions of books or authors drop me a comment :) (and pre-empting that I'm going to say that yes, i read Hunger Games. I thought it started out good but lost steam. Though I think she kept true to the feeling of her story and characters so over all it was good).

Day 5

My favorite TV show.
I'm not into TV. I've never paid for cable or satellite or anything of the sort. We DO have netflix, but that's movies. I'm totally fine with bunny ears and local stations. That being said, I can find "Friends" reruns on local stations. I can have a whole hour of it ever week night from 6-7, that is if kids and dinner and homework and baths and scouts and kid's guitar lessons and whatever have you allow me that, as it is about the time I walk in the door from being at work all day. I'm pleased to say that the circus is getting hooked on it too. I wish netflix had "Friends" in it's TV show section, because then I could start with episode one and work my way through them in order whenever I can fit one or two in. Maybe one day they will. For now, I just get random snippets of it in the evenings while trying not to get too engrossed that I forget about dinner and burn it (I can't say I always accomplish that... we've had a few close calls ha ha).

Day 4

A picture of me as a kid.
With my cousin Heather at our grandparent's cabin... for once I'm the short one: And I honestly can't tell you what my mom was thinking with the blonde afro look, but it's mildly tamed in this picture. I'm about 5 or 6.

Day 3

My favorite movie. Again, could this have been narrowed down? Although I'll be able to handle this one a little better than the song one. So...
My number one is hard core chick flick "Pride and Prejudice", this version (because, you know, they remake it all the time): But then there's also "Pirates of the Caribbean, the BlackPearl", which thankfully West is willing to watch with me :): And I do find it ironic that, though I'm not a huge Kiera Knightly fan, I mean, she's OK, but she's just OK, that both these movies have her in it. I am pleased to have heard that the 4th Pirates coming out doesn't. Her character was too cocky for my liking.

Day 2

Favorite song. I don't know, do you think this one could be narrowed down any? Because I have my favorite song that got me through tears to strong standing after my divorce (Over You by Daughtry), or I have the hymn that never fails to rock me to the core (Lead Kindly Light), and then there's my new favorite because it makes me giggly over West (Stuck Like Glue by Sugarland). But I guess my all time favorite song, that I crank in the car with the windows down, or while I'm cleaning, or put on repeat on my ipod, or have played it so much the circus knows ever word by heart which would be Fishin' in the Dark by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, although Emerson Drive does a fantastic cover of it too.

Day 1

I'm joining the ranks of bloggers who are doing the 30 days of blogging (interspersed with random catching up on life blogs).Day one is a recent picture of me. I don't really have any recent pictures of just me, so the most recent of me in it is this one from Cali-boo's birthday. Taken just one month ago. Not bad for 32 yrs, eh?
