Sunday morning. Easter. The kids asked in complete weariness the night before if they could not get up early just ONE morning. So we let them sleep in, but just a little bit. We still had to get up early enough to catch the breakfast hours at our hotel. Our legs were killing us. We were in the mood for an easy day. We pulled the maps out and headed south to San Diego again. Off the freeway, right before the turn to the animal park, we pulled over at a roadside fruit stand. We'd been driving by orange orchards and West was mentioning on our way out we should stop by one of them and see if they'd sell us some fresh oranges, so when we saw the stand we pulled in. We had a really hard time deciding what we wanted, there were so many different kinds of fresh fruit. They had ostrich eggs too, and we helped the kids take turns holding them. They were so big and heavy, it was crazy. The lady said an ostrich egg tastes just like a chicken egg, but we're not sure we believe that. We finally walked out with a bag of oranges, ostrich jerky, and a cup of sliced cucumber sticks. Though we're not entirely sure they were cucumbers. They had a thicker consistency and actually tasted like peas... whatever it was, it wasn't too bad.
At the animal park we got to see a brand new baby cheetah through the nursery window, and the kids got to go into a petting park. We were all tired and didn't want to walk all over the park so we made our way over to the mini safari (with a stop at the outlook. We took the elevator up and looked out over all the property. West picked me up and threatened to throw me over which about stopped my heart! Don't do something like that to someone who's afraid of heights! He just laughed and said at least he knew now not to surprise me with a hot air balloon ride, which made me laugh because of all the things to surprise someone with, a hot air balloon ride?).

Rhino...

After the safari we drove back to Anaheim where we took the kids to the cheesecake factory for dinner and then spent a lazy afternoon in the pool. What made the pool nice was the fact that it was a heated pool. West and I tried to nap on the lounge chairs but it really didn't take us long to be in the water throwing the kids around. We ended the evening with cold stone (yummy, peanut butter and chocolate shake).
