I received this voicemail on my direct number at work:
"Hi Stephanie, this is Carol. Can you please call me, I'm not sure who you are or who you're with."
If she doesn't know who I am or who I'm with
why did she even call me?
why did she even bother to leave a message?
why is she wanting a return call when she has no idea who I am or who I'm with?
what is she expecting will result from leaving a message like that for someone she doesn't know and doesn't know what they do?
how did she get my direct number to begin with?
why did she feel compelled to call my number when she didn't know anything about me or my job?
I'm highly intrigued and highly irritated all at once.
I did call her back, and I got to leave her a voicemail. Maybe I should have just left a message similar to the one she plagued me with, but I didn't. Instead I simply told her "this is Stephanie, I received a voicemail from you. Feel free to call me back."
She never did.
Which brings me back to why did she even call and leave a message for me in the first place???? If you don't know someone and don't need their services (because you don't know what they are), wouldn't you just, oh I don't know, NOT CALL THEM?
I hope this is one of those mysteries that gets cleared up in heaven. I imagine being in heaven and learning why big events happened in my life. Or didn't. And then when I'm asked if I have any questions I'm going to say,
"Yes. Why ever did Carol call me?"
