Over the Weekend We: Soccer, Volleyball, Moab and Prom (with a side of Fear Factory)

Saturday was full of supporting the kids.

We kicked it off first thing with Tayler's soccer game (I'm still planning on making a big soccer post where I'll post all her soccer pictures that I've taken over the last few years.  It will be interesting to see how she's grown up in the sport).

Tayler has not interest in making goals, but loves playing defense and is all about getting in the fray and making the block.  She's really good at redirecting the ball away from the goal.

They won their game, plus also, it was a gorgeous morning.

The chill of spring lasts much too long, and Saturday we felt that summer might finally be pulling through.

After Tay's soccer game Tay headed to the mall to celebrate her birthday with her friends, and The Man and I headed over to Jayme's volleyball tournament.  I don't have any pictures to post as I took them on my big camera and not my phone, but I do have these pics from a tournament a few weekends ago.

I'll also be making a volleyball post for all the pictures I've taken of Jay paying volleyball over the last year or so.

This weekend they nearly missed winning the silver.  It's amazing to watch Jayme and the control she has with the ball.  She comes alive on the court.

After volleyball I dropped Cali off at a friend's brithday party.

At this point in the weekend The Man decided to take some friends up on a last minute invite to head down to Moab for the night.

They did a night ride on Hell's Revenge and then spent Sunday in the Behind the Rocks area.

This one is West:

This one is his friend, Byron:

Casidee went to prom with Levi.

They went to a silver mine for their day date, then out to sushi and the dance.

And lastly, I attended a training at Fear Factory where we went over emaciated anatomy in the face for "shruken in" looks, as we use those quite often with zombies, victims, and even vampires.

This makeup wasn't "picture ready," but more just a learning process.  They're heavy because I traced over them several times with my airbrush, trying to memorize the feel of the lines and how the bones are shaped, and then how the skin would fall.

So, in simpler words, these are just practice photos, I know it's not a great makeup, but it was never meant to be.

Gosh, I love being involved with this.

With Saturday being insanely busy, Sunday was a crash day.  We went to church, I went to a camp meeting (I'm serving as Stake Camp Director), and then we crashed and watched all the chick flicks we could while Sean holed up in his room with his phone, and West was in Moab.

All in all, I think we all earned our down time with each other.

Prom 2016

Before I begin this "catch up" post, I have two current complaints about my job.

And to be clear, it has nothing to do with my boss, my co-workers, my office, or even my actual daily grind except that I have to deal with these two things repeatedly in my daily grind:

1. The double meeting.  As in, can the Mayor participate in this event for us?  Yes?  Great.  We need a meeting to tell him more about it.

No you don't.  You do not need a meeting to tell him about the meeting.  Please just send me the information via email.

Thanks.

2. Entitled constituents.

We've all heard the rant about entitled politicians that only work for themselves, and that's true, they do exist.  However, I happen to work for a genuinely good politician who is in it for all the right reasons (and takes a lot of rebuke for it), so when I get a call from an angry constituent that goes something along the lines of, "I live in the County, I pay my taxes, I'm a voter, I refuse to speak with anyone else, I will not share my information with you, only the Mayor, and he owes me this," and they're speaking very heatedly and their words are dripping with contempt, then I just want to politely tell them that if they can't "help me help them," then there's really not much I can do for them, because frankly, paying your taxes and being a registered voter, does not enable you to be a pompous jerk.  Period.

And with that my rant is over.

I want to catch up on a post from prom. Prom from 2016 that is.  I posted about how Max asked Casidee here, but never followed up with actual prom pictures.

Seeing as Casidee will be attending Prom 2017 tomorrow, I suppose it's only proper to get Prom 2016 on the blog so I can move on.

We learned a lot about dress shopping last year.  That prom dresses cost upwards of hundreds of dollars (are you kidding me?), and every dress that caught her eye far exceeded the cost of my ( I thought) generous budget of $150.  However, we did eventually get tipped off to a cute dress "shop" that rents dresses out of a lady's basement.  The basement is packed full, and I mean full of dresses to rent, and all were $150 or less.

So there you have it, choose any dress you desire.

We went back there this year and they do not disappoint.

Max and Casidee have been good friends forever.

For. ev. er.

If you're missing the Sandlot reference, we can't be friends.

Max wanted to take someone to prom that he could just be chill and have some fun with.  It was perfect.  And they decided to have some fun with the flowers while they were at it.

It fit them perfectly.

They went on a hike, toured around downtown, took pictures, ate at The Roof, went to the dance, and then bowled.

And now an onslaught of pictures.

Over the Weekend: Dogs in Soccer, First in Dance, and It Begins: Prom.

Over the weekend we:

1. Won a soccer game
2. Took first in a dance competition
3. Got asked to our first date/school dance/prom

Overall I would say it was a pretty positive weekend for The Circus.

Tayler's soccer game did not come with a side order of rain, though it did come with gusty cold wind and a dog being chased by a dog catcher through the middle of the field.  Nice dog.  Poor dog catcher.  Didn't phase the players... too much.

Brynn started taking dance this year, and we are wrapping up the season with her performances.  The first was a dance competition over the weekend where her team took a first place ranking.  I was grinning like a fool at her beauty, and dying a little inside at how grown up she's becoming.

I took the recording with my phone, which wasn't liking the lighting situation on stage so it didn't get super clear.

She's still beautiful.

On Saturday night, midnight to be exact (okay, 11:40 to be exact), there was a loud knock on our door.  The Man and I stumbled downstairs, half asleep, wondering what in the world was going on.  One peak out the window and I knew.

Our lawn was glowing, and I mean literally glowing.  It had been covered by glow sticks.  On our porch was a sign.

The Man grumbled, "Tell Max he's in trouble for waking me up" and went back upstairs.  I went downstairs to wake Cas up.  This wasn't something that could wait until morning; she needed to see the glow.

Since she was heading back to her dad's house for two weeks on Sunday, we needed a quick turn around answer to give back before she left.

She baked a large cupcake, filled the center with frosting, and slipped in a note that read: "It would be sweet to go to prom with you."

We don't do anything small at our house, apparently.  Her first date, her first dance, hey, let's make it a prom.

She is also getting too grown up.
