casidee's mixed up dinner

Casidee's birthday is all about luck it seems.  We either get to host it on Friday the 13th (the 13th being her actual birthday.  See it here) or we get to celebrate it on St. Patrick's day, like we did this year, because it's the closest weekend to her birthday.  Since Cas's favorite color is green she had no problem incorporating the color.

For Casidee's birthday party she wanted to do a mixed up dinner like Jayme had (here).

Cas is major into dinosaurs and silly bands... how lucky to find dinosaur silly bands!

A menu is made with the different parts of the dinner listed individually.  Even the utensils are on the menu.  The girls get to order three things for four courses.  By the end of the meal they finally have all they need for a full dinner, but the fun part is putting in an order and getting ice cream, alfredo sauce, and ranch dressing.  Or actually managing to order both the fettucini noodles and the alfredo sauce but not getting a utensil to eat it with.  (Even the alfredo sauce was green).

After dinner the girls decorated party hats, turning them into dinosaur hats.

And they talked.  I was impressed with how calm they were, even though they were giggling and having fun.

I like these types of parties.

Casidee's rainbow dino hat.  She did a good job, didn't she?

And her creative friend's hats.

Pajama glitter toes party

Brynn has a thing for owls. She wanted a pajama party so everyone showed up in PJ's and the first project of the night was to make caramel apples look like owls: We set up the basement for Brynn's salon. Brynn's birthday salon. We even went out and bought an arm load of teeny bopper magazines for them to read while they were waiting there turn for their glitter toes. My friends Sara and Jen were life savers and helped me glitter all those toes:

Because one party in a day just isn't enough

Sean's birthday party was a pirate Sponge Bob party. West got Sponge Bob decorations, and the kids colored eye patches on them. They made ocean's in a bottle (a shout out to everyone at work who drank a TON of water the day before the party, so we could have enough empty bottles!): West got shells, glitter, and locks and keys.
Add 1/2 colored vinegar, and 1/2 vegetable oil and you get oceans in a bottle. We hot glued the lids shut. West spiced it up a bit by bringing out more than just blue food coloring.
We set up a picture treasure hunt for the kids. We took pictures around the neighborhood and printed them off. The kids would look around to see where the picture was for the next clue.It led them to the backyard for the treasure. The picture they saw: what they found:
I tried my hand at a "Sponge Bob Sparrow Pants" cake. The black icing was way to thick to work with, but aside from that, I don't think it turned out too bad.
After the kids went home we started gearing up for the BBQ. There are a ton of birthdays in September! Coconut drinks were on our minds. Hey, we just got back from the Bahamas... it was on our minds still.
Happy birthday Ryan, Shane, Sam, and Sean!
Dustin started having a bit of fun with the coconut lids. He eventually ended up in the garage drilling holes and tying string to them.
Raschelle was determined that she was going to hollow out her coconut. It took a bit of work, but she did it! I must say, after all of the coconut we ate through out the afternoon while we were getting ready, and then in the evening and night as we were playing with them, I was most certainly queasy to the stomach at the thought of coconuts the next morning.
Being a sport and sporting Dustin's coconut bra.
