I'm never the same after I experience it, and every year that I go changes me for the better.
This year will be Casidee's first year, since she's finally turned the ripe ol' age of 12. She watched me for years as I would help plan, prepare, pack and leave for a week with the young women of our neighborhood.
She understands that this is something pretty special, and she just. can't. wait.
Last night we gathered as a group to pass off our knot tying requirements.
We learned from the best man in the world (aside from The Man of course), Billie. I love Billie and his wife Barbara. They're the salt of the Earth. Billie's retired Navy, so he knows a thing or two about knots.
We passed off the bowline for when you fall in the river and need to be pulled by someone throwing you a rope.

for tying such things as clothes lines and broken tent lines.
And as the girls discovered, tying people to poles...
As for the leaders, we decided that our best bet is duct tape.
