My daughter is totally not allowed to be double digits yet

She's growing up so fast. I'm pretty sure I said this last year, but more than ever my little girl isn't so little anymore. Finally she got her longed for DS. The original plan for Cas's bday was to go bowling. I called the bowling alley a few weeks before I called the bowling alley and asked if I needed to make a reservation but was told it would be first come first serve unless I bought their party package, which I didn't. (Please note here that I never really mentioned to them which day I was planning on coming, I just asked about their general way of doing things). We sent out invites for parents to drop kids off at the bowling alley where we planned to bowl for two hours, but when we arrived we found that the bowling alley was "closed" for a big brothers event. Oops. We took all 16 kids (oh yes, 16!) next door to Chuck E. Cheese, which, of course, every one must have decided to do because it was full to capacity with a waiting list. So we crammed them all into our car and headed to the movie theater to see a matinee of Alice in Wonderland which had just come out that week. It was 1:30 at this point, with parents coming to pick kids up at 3:00, but as we reached the movie theater we discovered the first showing didn't even start until three. Let's try Classic skating. West pulled up and I jumped out, skipped the line, and asked the lady of the window (with a very packed parking lot and seemingly packed building) if they had room for a party of 20? I told her of being bounced from place to place and after hearing my story they told me they could squeeze out two tables for me. They are my heroes! At this point the bowling ball cake balls aren't in tune with our now skating themed party, but no body really cared. The girls were crazy and everyone had fun. Thanks to all the patient parents (we were passing out cell phones for girls to call parents to tell them where to pick them up while we stood in line). Afterwards we took Cas to Sizzler's for dinner where she scored a huge root beer float. Our friend Melissa also had a daughter turning ten that day so our friends all got together to do cake and ice cream for them.I got to make both cakes :)

My favorite story of Cas right now goes in perfectly with how she's growing up. She's decided she doesn't want kid's meals at fast food restaurants any more. The first time she was up to order we were at Arby's and she whispers to me, "Mom, do I say I want a Roast Beef Sandwich combo meal, or do I just say I want a #1?"

Wow! What a crazy party. You poor people trying to round up for for all those kids and not having much luck. I love that you had bowling themed snacks with your skating party. Fun times, good story.
