Small Things from the Weekend

We tend to go a little stir crazy around our house when we don't have something to do.  Sitting around and watching movies is all good and fun, but after one movie we're ready to get up and get going.  And after one day at the house, we need some place to go to stretch our legs out a bit.

I guess we're high maintenance?

But man alive do we get to see a lot of things and do a lot of things.  I only wish our bank account could keep up with the pace of life we want to be living.

As it goes we had to spend this weekend at home.

Sort of.

Tayler and I scored tickets to the Saturday afternoon session of General Conference.

I loved taking a few hours out of my Saturday to be able to do that with her.  And I appreciate that she volunteered to go with me.  That's a long time for a kid to sit still.

My very most favorite part of conference is when the prophet walks in before it stops.  The entire room, which is packed full of people stands and it's completely silent as he walks to his seat.

What an amazing man.  What an amazing spirit.  What an amazing time to remember how good and kind and loving our Father in Heaven is and how we should be good and kind and loving ourselves.

Even if we are sitting in the nosebleeds :).

Saturday night The Man and I had our date night.  It was still officially our date weekend, even if we did end up with a house full of kids.  We try to have our kid weekend be our family activities and our kidless weekend be our date activities.  So even when the schedule changes on us, we still do our dates.

We resorted to our stand-by favorite: sushi and a movie.  Jack and the Giant Slayer was fun, by the way.

Sunday we laid around.

And that got old fast.

We really needed to get out and do something so we took the dogs and the kids over to the park by our house.

Our dogs are the Clydesdales of dogs.  I think it's because they're so close to the ground and that gives them more leverage?

It takes a lot of muscle to hang on to those two.  Strider (the black one) was pulling so hard on his leash that he was grunting.

And they gave me shin splints while trying to keep up with them in flip flops.

We practiced hitting.

Apparently Brynn needs some practice on catching the ball instead of ducking away from it.  She was anticipating a power hit from Dad.  He was nice and kept the balls in the dirt area.

We also made homemade cinnamon rolls and the kids took some over to the new neighbors, who happen to be the brother of my best friend from college.

Small world.

Needless to say, after a putting around weekend like that The Man has some small trips planned for us.

And we have some projects on the drawing board.

Yesterday I was checking up on my game plan for life.  Graduation from SLCC is in sight and I've started checking out what I need to do to transfer to the U.  And then I indulged myself by looking at what classes I'll need to take for my bachelor's.

I can't wait until next spring!  It's like I'm dutifully eating my vegetables right now like a good girl, but I can't wait to get my teeth into dessert.  Generals are a pain.  I can't wait for the good stuff, the classes I actually want to take.

4 weeks left of this semester.  I can do this.
