in clean clothes with paint in my hair

Ah, the weekend is upon us.

I get through the week just to have my weekend.

I don't think I understood the greatness of weekends when I was blessed to be a stay at home mom.  They were just another day for me.  My experience at that time in my life was that every day just bled into the next.  There wasn't a lot of change.  Maybe story time at the library on a certain afternoon.  PTA meeting on another.  Church on Sunday.  But other than those little things...

My life has changed so much since then.

And I'm so grateful.

Now I'm alive.  And loved.  And so much better prepared to give all that I have to my kids.

Life is not what I ever expected it to be.  It's turning out drastically different than my plans were for it.

It's so much better; a much richer experience.

And harder

But that's what makes it so rich.

(You know I'm not talking monetary here, right?)

Sean the man participated in his second pinewood derby and did a great job with his car.

He's such a character.

And since I've not been a consistent blogger/record keeper for my family, his first pinewood derby car only made it to facebook, and not here.

Since I plan on this being much more of a permanent record for my family than facebook, here it is.

He made a tank, which normally wouldn't be something you think of for a "race" situation, but the boy ended up taking third in all with it.  Sometimes it pays off to think outside of the box.

Sean also participated in a grade wide spelling bee at school this week.  He has the bug now and is constantly trying to bribe his sisters into playing spelling bee with  him.  I over heard him yesterday morning telling Cali that he had some great, small prizes if she participated.  When his prizes didn't entice her, he tried again with different prizes.  And again...

Sean is also very persistent.  That boy is going places in life.

Jayme has been stinking up our house with vinegar experiments for her science homework.

Did you know an egg swells in vinegar?  It was twice it's normal size.

It was disturbing.

Sean and Tayler weren't about to sit still and let Jayme have all the fun, so they took some vinegar and baking soda out in the yard and proceeded to watch it turn into a volcano in a cup.

Cas learned about that reactive relationship on accident.

I have big plans for this weekend.

Finish painting the kitchen.
Clean my room.
Go to the AT&T store and look for a new phone.
Set up my craft/sewing area in the basement.
Sew a blanket.
Sew a tablecloth.
See a movie with The Man.

Those are my plans but what I actually foresee happening is slightly different.

Finish painting the kitchen.
Wander around Lowe's and Home Depot in paint splattered clothes.
See a movie with The Man.  In clean clothes.  With paint in my hair.

A thought for the day here.  It touched me to the core today.

We learned the vinegar/egg experiment in science class, and I always thought it was so crazy cool! I'll have to show that one to Pickle! Also, a movie with The Hubs this weekend sounds like such a good idea. We have a movie gift card from Christmas we still need to use. You are full of great reminders today!
P.S. Cool Pinewood Derby cars!
