Brynn Starts Middle School.

Our middle school likes to stagger the start dates so the kids who are new to middle school have a chance to figure it out on a day when just their grade has the school, without all the other grades swarming around them.

Yesterday 7th grade had their crack at it (Jayme), today it's the 6th graders turn, which means Brynn.

This is the first year that our school district has included 6th grade in middle school (and 9th grade in high school) so it gives us two girls hitting middle school for the first time this year, and it gives us three kids in middle school.  But Cas is an old hand at this middle school stuff now so she doesn't get a special start day.  She starts on Monday with the rest of our crew.

After back to school night Brynn felt pretty confident about going to middle school.  She found all her classes are grouped fairly close together (planned that way by the school to make it easier on the 6th graders) and she also found that she knew at least one person, if not more, in every class.  Plus she found a couple of friends who share her lunch (her sisters got the opposite lunch of her).

The only thing that gave her stress was that dang locker.  She just couldn't get it to open.

After a half hour of practicing on it she found she just wasn't yanking up on it hard enough and from then on was able to get it every time.

She's good with this middle school stuff now.

They're growing up but I'm okay with that.

It's fun to see what they get interested in and the things they become involved in.  I think I barely survived when they were babies and toddlers.  This big kid stuff?  I like it.
